|Welcome to the Tour de France
The Tour de France (TdF) is the world's biggest annual sporting event.
It is a race the usually contains it's fair share of drama, physical
and mental excellence and, more often than not, scandal. Despite 'the
troubles' of recent times, the TdF has not lost any of it's
attractiveness to a global audience of billions.
For three weeks every July, we are normally glued to the television
watching the world's best cyclists compete for the biggest prize in
cycling. Prior to 2006, that was captured by Lance Armstrong for seven
straight years. We were lucky enough to see Lance win his fifth title
in 2003 live by flying from Dubai (where we were living at the time) to
the South of France, hiring a car, plotting our viewing spots, and
waiting for the peleton to pass. We did this every day for eight
straight days. Sound exciting? It was one of the best experiences of our
lives and let us tell you why...
We 'joined' the Tour in Lyon, arriving a day before the cyclists came to town.
